Melodie creates jewelry with a stunning contemporary flair using vibrant color and detailed texture. She grew up in a family of artists in the Southwest and has been influenced by them and many teachers over the years as she developed her remarkable style. She has worked in many media but her favorite is silver splashed with the color of gems, crystals, fused glass, titanium and objects found in Nature. Her jewelry portrays the eccentric side of the artist and the wearer as she strives to create pieces that synthesize elegance with excitement.
Jewelry is her passion and has been since she began working in a fine jewelry store at the age of 14. By the time she left to go to college she still owed the store money!
Melodie is PMC certified and a member of the PMC Guild and the Art Clay Society. She has received extensive training through Rio Grande, and has completed numerous classes with instructors throughout the country.
Melodie's work can be seen at the NNMAC Gallery in Santa Fe, NM, 142 Lincoln Ave (at Marcy). Her work has been included in the 2010 "The Art and Design of Metal Clay Jewelry" calender available at Gage Designs as well as the Art Clay Society Quarterly. She was recently the featured artist with Sia Corrina.com. Melodie won the New Beginnings design competition sponsored by Metal Clay Today, with her pendant being featured in their June 2010 online magazine MetalClayToday.com
